I love all of Hamish’s cats, but Daisy has a special place in my heart. I’ll miss her!
Sunday officially marked the beginning of the last week I have in Australia. Saturday night I went with Irma to Glebe markets, it was awesome! I got a super shiny gold shirt with tigers on it and something for my sister :) Irma got some shoes (don’t tell her mom) and a book. We’re both really going to miss our market days.
Mollie, Ben and I started off the Sunday with a big house cleaning party. Even though our place looked like shit when we moved in, we’re still expected to have it spotless when we move out. Double standards. I suggested that the Village pay me 500 every two weeks for keeping this place so clean over the semester. I think they’d be open to the idea. I started packing up things in my room, and Mikkel came over to say goodbye. I’ll miss my favorite Dane.
Monday we had a pretty big potluck dinner and said goodbye to Amanda. There was so. much. food. We also spent a good 15 to 20 minutes taking group photos. I can’t wait to see them all. I have made some of the greatest friends here and I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like to go home. I used to be really sad but now it just isn’t even registering, even with people leaving. I’ve even started packing up. I’m just going to enjoy the time I have left here and get ready for life’s next adventure :)
Three finals down, one to go! Today I had a 3 hour essay exam for my international marketing class. Never before have I more desired to be ambidextrous. I can type for 3 hours no problem, but I can’t remember the last time I wrote for more than 30 minutes. Strange, huh? This is my second to last week in Australia. I don’t think it’s really going to hit me until I’m on the plane that I’m going home. I said goodbye to my friend Alberto on Saturday night and it still doesn’t feel real. I’ve gotten so used to being around these new wonderful friends and in Australia that I don’t know what it’s going to be like when I get back. Hamish is wonderful, we went to the botanical gardens on friday (that’s the pics) and having to leave him is going to be especially difficult. Those are also two of his cats, they live at his dad’s. Bonks and Daisy, they are both super snuggly and I love them. There is also Milo who is a super tall black cat.
Melissa and I are still on the apartment/house hunt. We’ve gotten some emails back and hopefully something pans out. I’m so excited to live with one of my best friends! We’re both going to foster for WMCH and I’m looking forward to some great nights of Zumba for wii and yummy dinners. I’m trying to focus on great things that will happen when I get back, I get to go to TAFA one of the biggest animal rights conferences, and see my sister and my dad. Trying to focus less on how hard it will be not to see everyone and that now I know great people all over the world.
I’ve started to say goodbye to friends I’ve made in tutorials. It’s very weird. Having friendly faces in class and people to chat with has made this semester even more enjoyable. I’ve also completed 2 more psych studies (I think I’ve done 7 now) it’s great. I made almost $20 in a half hour and $15 at the second one, cha-ching! Had my last demographics class on Thursday, HELL YES. Then I got to go home and make vegan shepherd’s pie with Hamish, it was so good! We also went to Green Gourmet last week and went to my favorite sorbet place so I could get carmelized fig and cinnamon vegan sorbet again sooo gooood. Hamish wants to be vegan so we cook all the time together, it’s nice :)
Back in finals news…Demographics…that class has been totally horrendous the entire semester, thankfully it’s my first final so I can get it over with. Then I have marketing research which I get to take a double-sided cheat sheet to…score! Lastly I’ve got my international marketing (all essays, a teency bit not excited for all the hand cramping that will ensue) and consumer behavior, or behaviour if I’m going to be truly Australian. After finals I’ve got a week off, and then it’s back to the mitten.
This is Tails. The little kitty that likes to visit everyone in the village. The other day he/she lay on the couch with me while I did some homework. One night Mollie let him in to sleep on the couch. Yesterday he took a nap with me while I did some homework. I’ll miss this little cat!
My dad is a photo editing fiend so this is one of two pictures I’ve gotten to see that he took while on his trip here. It’s us outside the Chinese Garden :) Miss you dad!
Peta does make some informative things. I love this baking cheat sheet! So helpful for making cakes and muffins :) yum. Here’s a link to it since the picture is small.
